The success story of Kadiatu Sanu:

Kadiatu lives in a small village about five kilometers from the town of Gbinti. She is 41 years old and is involved in farming and trading. Her family consists of herself and her six children.

Kadiatu was very interested in starting her own business and was therefore invited by one of the coordinators of SEN (KETAAKETI partner in Sierra Leone) to work in one of the microfinance groups.

Her wish has always been to invest in agriculture, especially rice farming. She believes in its economic benefits because it allows her and her family to provide themselves with food and at the same time sell some of it. In order to achieve economic success more quickly, she decided to invest in motorcycle transportation. In her area, motorcycles are the only available and reliable means of transportation.

''No SEN, no progress in my agriculture and motorcycle taxi (...) may God bless the founders of KETAAKETI!''

With the help of the microfinance she received from SEN, she initially paid assistants to help her prepare her field for rice cultivation. She also decided to mechanize her agricultural activities by renting a tractor. Rice cultivation achieved better yields thanks to this decision to use a tractor to plough and sow the field with seeds.

The motorcycle was also a worthwhile investment. In addition to her transport business, Kadiatu also uses it to take her children to school.

Things are going very well for Kadiatu in the agricultural sector. If she gets the chance, she would like to invest further in this area so that she can continue to rent tractors for ploughing and harrowing the crops in the future.

However, she stated that she wants to give up the motorcycle transportation system as it is difficult for her to find a reliable driver to undertake the task.

Why is the quality of our images sometimes not so good?

There is a very simple reason for this: donations are not used for expensive cameras. The NGOs and people in the countries concerned document their stories themselves - with the means at their disposal. New and good cameras and cell phones are very rare there, so the quality of the images is what it is - but these impressions are authentic and real.
