Kamala lives in the Gorkha region. Her family includes her husband of 45 years and her sons, ages 16 and 18. With the income from buffalo and goat breeding as well as the cultivation of grain and vegetables, she generates an income with which she can provide for her children. Her husband and children help her so that she earns enough to cover her education and household expenses.
Kamala reports that the biggest challenges associated with livestock and agriculture are the diseases that animals can contract and the unstable weather that damages crops. Her customers come from the village, but she also goes to the market to sell her products.

It was good for them to learn in the microfinance group and to support each other there, says Kamala. She regularly meets the women who have received microfinance and it has shown her how they can and will help each other.

“If a woman in the group has problems, we collect money and help her. We know more women can get this microfinance, so we help each other.”
